Hopal
The history of naming
from the natural world
The name Hopal is inspired by the brilliant look of the opalstone. The internal structure of the opal makes it diffract light; depending on the conditions in which it is formed, it can take on many colours. Opals come in a wide range of colours, from transparent to white, with many shades and flashes its radiance with even the slightest movement. The word opal is thought to be derived from the Sanskritupala, meaning “precious stone”, and later the Greek derivative “Opallios,” meaning “to see a change of colour”. Hopal design is inspired by this beautiful stone, and to make it our own, we added an “h” as we all HOPE for a more ecological future for the next generations.
